Russian National Guard units have detained a Ukrainian sabotage group operating in the Bryansk region under orders from Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate.

According to preliminary information, the group consisted of six fighters. Several members were killed during the clash, while at least two were taken prisoner — one of them wounded.

An initial interrogation conducted by Russian forces revealed that the group’s mission was to blow up a railway line in Russia’s border area. The detainees were found carrying explosive devices, detonators, and other equipment needed to carry out the attack.

This is not the first such operation in the region. In mid-August, another Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance group was detected and neutralized in Bryansk. That unit had penetrated dozens of kilometers into Russian territory before being intercepted by the military near Komarichi, around 40 kilometers from the state border. Three members of the group were killed, and three others were captured.
