Russian air defense units repelled a series of Ukrainian drone attacks overnight into December 23, according to the Russian Defense Ministry.

Between 11:00 p.m. Moscow time on December 22 and 7:00 a.m. on December 23, air defense systems intercepted and destroyed 29 Ukrainian fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles. The heaviest activity was recorded over the Rostov Region, where 14 drones were shot down. Another seven were neutralized in the airspace of the Stavropol Territory.

Three drones were intercepted over the Belgorod Region and three more over the Republic of Kalmykia. Single UAVs were also brought down over the Kursk Region and the territory of the Republic of Crimea.

Earlier the same evening, from 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Moscow time on December 22, air defense forces dealt with an additional wave of attacks. During that period, 12 Ukrainian drones were destroyed, including 11 over Crimea and one over the waters of the Black Sea.
