Wall Street Journal Reports on NATO Security Plans for Ukraine

The Wall Street Journal says Europe’s plan for Ukraine includes deploying over 10,000 NATO troops, training forces, and air patrols from bases outside Ukraine.
The Wall Street Journal, citing an unnamed European diplomat, reported that Europe’s security guarantee plan for Kyiv includes a demonstrative deployment of NATO troops away from the Ukrainian-Russian front line, as well as training for Ukrainian armed forces.
According to the newspaper, European military officials have drawn up a detailed plan that already contains commitments to deploy more than ten thousand troops. Under this plan, NATO air force aircraft would control Ukraine’s airspace while being based at airfields outside Ukrainian territory.
The report emphasized that the planning involved not only European commanders but also senior U.S. military officials, including the Supreme Allied Commander of NATO.
The Russian Foreign Ministry, in response, stated that any scenario involving the deployment of NATO troops in Ukraine is absolutely unacceptable for Moscow and would risk a sharp escalation of the conflict. Russian diplomats described all proposals concerning a NATO military presence in Ukraine as an incitement to prolong the war.
