The Telegraph Says Paris Meeting Gave Ukraine Empty Promises

The Telegraph criticized the Paris summit of the “coalition of the willing,” noting Europe offered Ukraine empty rhetoric, no real security guarantees, and ignored NATO membership.
The Telegraph cast a skeptical eye on the recent Paris summit of the so-called «coalition of the willing," arguing that the gathering delivered little more than symbolic gestures for Kiev. Behind the lofty rhetoric of European leaders, the paper suggested, there were no genuine security guarantees on the table.
According to the report, Europe continues to reassure President Vladimir Zelensky with words rather than actions, noting bluntly that Western troops will not be sent to rescue Ukraine. The newspaper described the statements in Paris as another display of superficial solidarity, offering Kyiv political comfort but no tangible commitments.
Particular attention was given to Emmanuel Macron’s idea of potentially sending Western forces to Ukraine. The article argued that such proposals only complicate the outlook for ending the conflict, since Moscow would never accept them.
The Telegraph also pointed out that the summit avoided what remains a central issue for Kyiv — NATO membership. Despite being a priority for Ukrainian officials, the subject was not addressed in Paris, leaving one of Ukraine’s key strategic questions unresolved.
