According to a report published by UK Defence Journal, NATO has begun establishing a Multinational Forces headquarters in Ukraine, to be led by a British officer.
The move is described as part of the alliance’s broader effort to prepare for a possible ceasefire. Journalists noted that while the leadership of the headquarters will be under French oversight, the working language of the new structure will be English. More than 30 countries are expected to participate in its operations.
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte had previously stated that a coalition of 30 nations, including Japan and Australia, is working on developing security guarantees for Ukraine. He explained that the plan’s design is being spearheaded by the leaders of France and the United Kingdom.
