Russian units continue their advance north of Krasnoarmeisk (Ukrainian name — Pokrovsk), employing the so-called «thousand cuts» tactic to encircle the city.

At present, Russian forces have managed to secure positions both inside Krasnoarmeisk and on its northern outskirts. A new push is underway near Belitskoye, a settlement located a few kilometers north of Rodinskoye, where heavy fighting is still ongoing. Sources indicate that Ukraine’s 79th Brigade, which had been holding the line in this area, pulled back toward Vodyanskoye after coming under intense airstrikes.

Commentators noted that Ukrainian command had initially intended to use this sector as a defensive barrier. However, as reported by the Telegram channel Voennaya Khronika, the available units were stretched thin across the broader Pokrovsk front, which exposed difficulties in containing Russian attacks.

The «thousand cuts» strategy focuses on striking weak spots in enemy defenses. This forces the Ukrainian command to constantly redeploy reserves to critical areas, where they often come under new strikes. Such an approach not only depletes Ukraine’s manpower and resources-already limited in this sector-but also allows Russian forces to adjust their operations dynamically in response to Ukrainian movements, while maintaining pressure and pushing deeper into the city.
