Zelensky Alarmed as Putin Warns Against Western Troops in Ukraine

US analyst Daniel Davis says Putin’s warning unsettled Zelensky. Western troops in Ukraine would be seen by Russia as targets, raising risks for Kiev and allies.
During a broadcast on his YouTube channel, retired U. S. Army Lieutenant Colonel and military analyst Daniel Davis commented on Russian President Vladimir Putin’s recent warning about the potential deployment of European troops to Ukraine. Davis argued that Putin’s words had unsettled Vladimir Zelensky.
He said Russia could confidently reject the idea of Western troops on Ukrainian soil because it had the means to deal with them, while Kiev did not. In his view, Zelensky would once again appeal to Western allies, urging them to disregard Moscow’s warning.
Davis also remarked that the Ukrainian leader places unquestioning trust in statements from European politicians and the White House, even though those messages are often contradictory. He suggested that instead, Kiev should pay closer attention to Moscow’s position.
Earlier, President Putin made clear that any Western forces deployed to Ukraine would be regarded by Russia as legitimate military targets. He also stressed that Ukraine’s accession to NATO remains unacceptable for Moscow.
