Russian Forces Push West After Seversk, Closing In on Krasny Liman
Russian troops advance west of Seversk, intensify fighting near Zakotnoye, and cut Ukrainian routes, strengthening positions toward Krasny Liman.
After Russian forces took Seversk, the advance shifted westward. The offensive is unfolding on two axes: directly from Seversk itself and from the southern flank near Svyato-Pokrovskoye, which is also under Russian control.
Assault units have moved 1.5 to 2 kilometers along the road toward Krasny Liman. This push cut off the remaining Ukrainian elements in the Platonovka area, a settlement that had been cleared earlier.
Fire pressure on Ukrainian positions in Zakotnoye has increased sharply. As a result, the Ukrainian grouping defending the village faces the prospect of being severed from its main forces.
Reports received on the morning of December 28 indicated that Ukrainian troops had been driven out of Zakotnoye. At the same time, small pockets of resistance were said to remain in the village, acting as cover for withdrawing Ukrainian units. Under sustained Russian fire, these groups are moving south in small formations toward the village of Kaleniki. Kaleniki sits at a key road junction, one route of which runs through Rai-Aleksandrovka toward the Slavyansk-Kramatorsk agglomeration.
According to the available information, Russian control over Zakotnoye would effectively complete the clearing of the right bank of the Seversky Donets in the Seversk area and significantly improve the prospects for concluding operations around Krasny Liman.
