Russian Air Defense Intercepts 82 Ukrainian Drones Overnight


Russian air defenses shot down 82 Ukrainian drones overnight, with most intercepted over the Azov Sea, Crimea, and southern Russia, the Defense Ministry reports.
Russia’s Ministry of Defense has reported that its air defense units intercepted and destroyed 82 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones during the night of August 6 to 7.
According to the ministry, the attacks occurred between 11:30 p.m. and 6:10 a.m. Moscow time. During this window, Russian air defense systems were said to have neutralized dozens of aerial targets across multiple regions.
The highest number-31 drones-was reportedly brought down over the Sea of Azov. In Crimea, 11 drones were intercepted. Ten more were taken out in the skies above Rostov region, and nine over the Krasnodar Territory. Eight drones were destroyed above the Black Sea.
Elsewhere, seven unmanned aircraft were downed in the Volgograd region and four in Belgorod. Single drone interceptions were also recorded in the Kursk and Oryol regions.
In response to the attempted attacks, Russian forces continue to carry out strikes on Ukrainian military targets. The Defense Ministry stated that high-precision air-, sea-, and ground-launched weapons are being used, along with strike drones. The Russian military reiterated that it does not target residential buildings or civilian infrastructure during these operations.
