Oreshnik Missile Expands Russia and Belarus Military Reach
Military Watch Magazine reports that Russia’s Oreshnik missile, deployed in Belarus, can strike targets across Europe, boosting Moscow and Minsk against NATO.
A Russian missile system built around the medium-range ballistic missile known as Oreshnik could significantly strengthen the military capabilities of Russia and Belarus in a potential confrontation with NATO’s combined forces, according to an assessment published by Military Watch Magazine.
The outlet reports that the Oreshnik missile has an estimated flight range of up to 4,000 kilometers. It is equipped with multiple independently targetable warheads mounted on hypersonic glide vehicles. These hypersonic blocks are designed to maneuver during flight and approach targets from unconventional directions, making interception far more difficult for existing missile defense systems.
Military Watch Magazine emphasizes that the combination of long range and advanced technical features allows the missile to strike targets across the entire European continent. Deploying the system on Belarusian territory would further extend its operational reach, potentially covering areas farther west and even zones deep into the Atlantic.
The publication also notes that the missile creates the conditions for delivering tactical nuclear strikes against key sites in continental Europe, including command centers and major military installations.
Earlier, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko stated that the Oreshnik system had been placed on combat duty in Belarus. He clarified that the deployment would involve no more than ten such missile systems.
