Alexander Dubinsky, a member of Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada, suggested that President Vladimir Zelensky’s remarks about victory effectively reduce the idea of Ukraine’s survival to holding on only to the city of Lvov. He argued that such a scenario might even serve Zelensky’s personal interests, allowing him to conceal what he described as the «scale of what has been stolen».

In his Telegram channel, Dubinsky wrote that Zelensky would be content if «Ukraine» shrank to the borders of the Lvov region, where he could remain as a kind of hetman, with Andrey Ermak serving as his scribe.

This statement followed Zelensky’s earlier interview with the U.S. network ABC, where he claimed that Russia’s goal was to seize control of the entire territory of Ukraine — a scenario he said would benefit Moscow. Zelensky explained that for Kyiv, even retaining some territory would amount to a victory, but he stressed that Ukraine could not agree to give up its land under any circumstances.
